Job Summary

The Clinical Psychologist provides community-based acute mental health services for mental health consumers and their families who are referred to the Safeguards Child and Adolescent Mental Health Response Teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct mental health assessments and provide evidence-based interventions
  • Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish service goals and improved consumer care and outcomes
  • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes
  • Provide expert clinical support to the team under the leadership of the Safeguards psychiatrist
Requirements
  • Masters or Doctorate degree in clinical psychology or international equivalent
  • Current registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and specialist endorsement in the area of clinical psychology
  • Extensive effective experience in conducting mental health assessments and providing evidence-based interventions
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Mental Health Act and principles of trauma-informed care
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Competence in the use of information technology systems
