Director of Costing Analytics

This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing the analytical support provided to costing and data infrastructure activities in hospitals and aged care facilities. The Director will lead a team in developing innovative methods for analyzing cost data, evidence-driven health policies, alternative funding models, and classification systems.

The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of costing within the Agency and ABF, as well as strategic and program management skills. They will also have experience in developing clear and efficient code using SAS, SQL, or Python, and be able to communicate complex technical information to various stakeholders.

The key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Leading the annual cycle of work to deliver cost advice for hospitals and aged care facilities.
  • Coordinating the preparation of position and briefing papers around costing models.
  • Providing expert advice to stakeholders on pricing methods.
  • Representing the Agency on national committees and conferences.

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong understanding of costing models and pricing methods.
  • Strategic and program management skills.
  • Experience in developing clear and efficient code.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills.

Desirable skills include knowledge of activity-based costing, hospital costing, data collection, mathematics, statistics, econometrics, or actuarial sciences, and experience using SAS, SQL, Python, and Microsoft Excel.
