Job Summary:

As a Piping Designer at Bechtel, you will play a crucial role in planning, developing, and reviewing Plant Design & Piping (PD&P) work. Your responsibilities will include producing models, drawings, and documentation, as well as preparing design estimates for a project.

You will work closely with clients, facilitate technical discussions, and review and approve drawings, calculations, and bid summaries. Your expertise will be essential in solving complex technical issues and ensuring PD&P designs comply with all regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform PD&P design and drafting tasks, including piping layout and design.
  • Develop designs for complete and complex PD&P engineering systems.
  • Prepare or assist with the preparation of assigned material requisitions and bid evaluations.
  • Monitor and check work for compliance with approved PD&P design standards and project requirements.
  • Ensure PD&P systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Participate in constructability reviews.
  • Coordinate or make jobsite visits to resolve problems and interpret drawings and documents.
  • Review PD&P design scope changes for project management.
  • Endorse or prepare reports of work progress for project and discipline use.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5 – 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Or 9 - 12 years of relevant work experience.
Desirable Skills:
  • Sound knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, graphic arts, reading of drawings, and reproduction methods used by the discipline.
  • Experience with multi-discipline interface management and global 3D model oversight.
  • Expertise in reading, interpreting, and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups.
  • Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to design responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience with Smart3D modelling of piping in a multi-discipline, intelligent 3D modelling environment.
