Job Opportunity:

A casual or supplementary General Stevedore is required to assist our operations at Port Botany Terminal.

This is an entry-level role with opportunities for permanent arrangements in the future. The successful candidate will receive generous remuneration including shift premiums and overtime.

The role requires working 7 days a week, with shifts notified 1 day in advance. The position is initially employed on a casual basis with no guarantee of shifts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lashing: Utilizing heavy rigging equipment to secure shipping containers to the deck of a ship.
  • Operating heavy vehicles: Driving internal transport vehicles (ITVs) to transport and move containers around the wharf.
  • Driving light vehicles: Driving a manual, 24-seat light vehicle to transport employees around the terminal.
  • Forklift operation: Moving shipping containers short distances within the yard and on and off trucks and rail carriages.
Requirements:
  • Current and valid full driver's licence (manual desirable).
  • Current and valid forklift licence (or willing to obtain a licence prior to commencement).
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable and able to work at heights.
  • Physically capable to undertake heavy manual tasks.
  • Experience operating heavy machinery (desirable).
  • Experience in heavy industry such as warehousing, transport and logistics, construction, mining, or manufacturing.
