Opportunity for Internal Audit Leadership

This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled Internal Auditor to lead the delivery of effective and efficient internal audit projects.

The role involves analysing and evaluating the Council's systems of internal control, risk management, governance and ethical behaviour status, identifying and recommending improvement opportunities and assisting with implementation of these.

You will demonstrate high ethical standards, objectivity and uphold a high level of personal integrity, working closely with senior management within Council as required regarding their compliance to relevant legislation and regulations.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity, 35 hours per week, with access to flexible working arrangements. The successful candidate will have a tertiary qualification in Auditing, Commerce, Finance, Accounting or Business Administration, experience as an Internal Auditor in a medium to large organisation, and membership of the Australian Internal Auditor Professional Association.

  1. Develop and implement an effective internal audit strategy that aligns with Council objectives and risk appetite.
  2. Analyse and evaluate the Council's systems of internal control, risk management, governance and ethical behaviour status.
  3. Identify and recommend improvement opportunities and assist with implementation of these.
  4. Ensure compliance with Office of Local Government Risk Management and Internal Audit Guidelines.
