The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Anaesthetist to join our team at JPS Medical. This is a fantastic opportunity to provide high-quality anaesthetic care to patients, including perioperative care, audit, education, research, and management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide anaesthetic care to patients, including perioperative care, audit, education, research, and management
  • Manage acute, chronic, and persistent pain conditions, as well as pain complicated by other medical conditions
  • Work collaboratively with the ICU team to provide high-quality care to critically ill patients
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and protocols

The Hospital

Our hospital is a 160-bed facility and is the principal referral centre for the North West Tasmanian community. The ICU is an 8-bed Level 2 ICU, and the general case mix of patients may include trauma patients, sepsis, and multi-system failure, post-operative complications, unstable angina/AMI, cardiac failure/arrhythmias, and respiratory failure.

The Location

Our hospital is located in a beautiful coastal town with a vibrant shopping district and well-developed infrastructure. The local countryside is renowned for its produce, and you can enjoy award-winning cheese at the factory outlet and taste whisky at the cellar door. There are restaurants to linger in and well-stocked delis to tempt you with gourmet treats.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must either be:

  • Registered with AHPRA and have at least 12 months recent experience
  • On ANZCA training program approaching Fellowship
  • Hold the FANZCA
  • IMG's eligible for Competent Authority Pathway - UK, Ireland, Canada, USA, NZ, as well as interested candidates from South Africa, Hong Kong, Malaysia
  • IMG's with a confirmed ANZCA interview date
  • IMG's already assessed by ANZCA and found to be substantially comparable
