About the Team
You'll be part of a dynamic team responsible for building and maintaining core workspaces for accountants and bookkeepers, enabling them to manage their practices efficiently.
About the Role
This senior engineering position requires deep expertise in database systems, scalability and reliability challenges, architectural decisions, continuous improvement and technical problem-solving. If you thrive in a flexible work environment and enjoy tackling intricate issues, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design high-availability SQL Server databases ensuring replication, clustering, mirroring, backup and recovery processes are secure.
- Develop, optimize and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures and indexing strategies for peak performance and reliability.
- Analyze and resolve system-wide challenges, drive technical improvements and shape database strategies to meet business needs.
- Perform capacity planning, performance tuning and monitor delivery processes to prevent customer-facing problems.
- Collaborate with product teams providing input into architectural decisions and technical guidance.
- Implement and enforce database standards, security policies and compliance requirements using workflow management tools.
- Guide and mentor other engineers sharing learnings through coaching, presentations and documentation.
Requirements:
- 15+ years of experience in software development with profound expertise and leadership in large-scale database systems.
- At least 5 years of recent experience with Microsoft SQL.
- Cloud proficiency with a strong preference for AWS and Azure.
- Strong knowledge of database design, indexing, query optimization and performance tuning along with experience with logging and monitoring solutions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, proactive approach to performance improvements and desire to solve hard scalability problems.
- Understanding of technical debt from application and database perspectives.
- Experience designing and maintaining automated database deployment pipelines.
- Strong collaboration and communication abilities within multidisciplinary teams.
