Forensic Chemistry Specialist

About the Opportunity:

The primary objective of this role is to guarantee the provision of efficient, timely, quality and effective operational output of highly specialised and complex forensic casework from our Chemistry Group.

This includes line management responsibility for a team of professionals covering forensic disciplines such as illicit drugs, clandestine laboratories, cannabis, trace evidence and document examination.

We provide a comprehensive range of services to agencies associated with the justice system, including the State Coroner, South Australia Police (SAPOL), the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) and defence and civil litigants.

The organisation has four scientific/medico-legal operational areas: Pathology, Chemistry, Biology and Toxicology, each analysing materials using a diverse range of scientific equipment and processes.

  • Main Responsibilities:
    • Manage a team of professional officers
    • Oversee the analysis of forensic materials
    • Ensure timely and effective delivery of results

About Us:

We report to the Executive Director, Finance, People & Performance.

The successful candidate will have a degree in science, qualifications in leadership and management, and experience in a similar role.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, combined with strong leadership and management skills.

Experience in a similar role is highly desirable.
