Quality Engineer Role

As a Quality Engineer, you will be working on enhancing the testing experience for all engineers. You will design, build, and evolve core components of our platform to empower thousands of engineers to test effectively and confidently.

You will partner with engineers to co-design solutions that enhance developer velocity. Initiatives to reduce test flakiness, improve health visibility, and implement smarter diagnostics are crucial for this role.

About the Team

The Quality Platform Team owns the automated testing ecosystem and defines the testing strategy. We design scalable frameworks and tools that remove friction and provide actionable insights – directly accelerating innovation across Canva's product suite.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Strong software engineering skills: demonstrated experience building robust systems
  • Passion for developer empowerment: interest in or experience with building developer tools, testing infrastructure, CI/CD systems, or other platform-level solutions
  • Understanding of quality and testing: solid grasp of automation principles and challenges involved in building reliable, maintainable test suites and frameworks
  • Developer-centric mindset: ability to put yourself in users' shoes and demonstrate empathy
  • Pragmatic problem-solving: excellent at breaking down complex technical challenges and delivering practical solutions
  • Collaborative communication: ability to articulate technical concepts clearly and work effectively within a team environment
  • Drive and adaptability: proactive, results-oriented, and comfortable navigating ambiguity
