Job Title:

Therapeutic Child and Family Advocate

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled professional to provide specialist therapeutic intervention for children, young people and their families impacted by trauma.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions to promote healing, resilience and emotional well-being
  • Conduct thorough intake and assessment processes to identify each child's unique needs
  • Plan and facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational group programs and workshops aligned to identified needs and service priorities
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or other relevant field or continuing education and training in evidence-based practices
  • Demonstrated experience of working with therapeutic models of practice
  • Demonstrated applied knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed practice as it relates to child development, adverse childhood experiences
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders
  • Evidenced understanding and practice knowledge of the neurobiological, social, emotional and developmental impacts of trauma
  • Strong teamwork ethos while also being able to demonstrate the capacity to work independently in the delivery of a specialist service to children, young people and their families
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to culturally safe and inclusive practice, with an awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal culture and an understanding of the impacts of historical and intergenerational trauma
