About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Director to lead our Northern NSW team in delivering the Inland Rail Program. As a key member of the Engineering, Assurance and Integration (EA&I) team, you will be responsible for providing engineering leadership, technical expertise, and commercial acuity to drive project success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering leadership to embed culture and safety in line with the Inland Rail Program's Vision, Purpose, and Values.
  • Direct and lead the engineering team to deliver integrated outputs and outcomes to required milestones for approved project works.
  • Drive problem-solving, technical innovation, and collaboration across the portfolio.
  • Provide effective engineering leadership to ensure deep technical engineering subject matter expertise and support is delivered for the Inland Rail Program.
  • Lead and manage all aspects of the engineering lifecycle for the Northern NSW portfolio, ensuring delivery teams develop coordinated, buildable, safe, and accepted returned assets within scheduled timeframes and cost constraints.
  • Prepare timely, factually accurate, and high-quality reporting, schedules, and information.
  • Provide technical and commercial guidance to principal engineers, engineering managers, and design managers both within the Inland Rail Program and external service providers to support the delivery of multiple rail, civil, and structures work packages.
About You

We are looking for a candidate with a growth mindset and a proven track record in an engineering leadership position on a major project or program. You should have demonstrated success implementing engineering management frameworks to deliver best-for-project outcomes. Additionally, you should be able to demonstrate prior experience driving leadership initiatives, cultural change, and leading multidiscipline teams.

Key qualifications include a degree qualification in Engineering, demonstrated high levels of industry experience, and qualification as CPEng, Eng Exec, Fellow Eng / NER / RPEQ, or equivalent. You should also have demonstrated commercial acumen and project management experience, knowledge of railway safe working systems and railway accreditation environment, highly developed communication, influencing, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact with and build strong working relationships at senior levels.
