Exercise Physiologist Position Overview

genU is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to empowering people with disabilities, the ageing, and those experiencing disadvantage. We are seeking an enthusiastic, proactive Exercise Physiologist to join our team to make a real difference in people's lives.

  • This role involves conducting comprehensive initial assessments, developing individualised exercise programs, monitoring client progress and making adjustments as needed, providing high quality practice to ensure optimal person-centred outcomes.
  • The successful candidate will work with individuals on a one-to-one basis and in groups to support those experiencing physical health and wellbeing concerns.
  • Conducting a range of assessments including functional capacity evaluation, musculoskeletal and fitness, worksite and ergonomic is also required.
  • Prescribing clinical exercise with a focus on work conditioning and strengthening modelled on client focused short term interventions.
About This Role

As an Exercise Physiologist with genU, you will be working towards delivering psycho-educational, work conditioning, manual handling, chronic pain management and strengthening group based programs. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology or equivalent, and be accredited by ESSA (Exercise and Sports Science Australia). Additionally, they must possess exceptional organisational abilities to facilitate prioritisation and effective management of key duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement exercise programs tailored to meet the needs of clients with varying abilities and goals.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic care and support services to clients.
  • Monitor and report on client progress, identifying areas for improvement and adjusting programs accordingly.
  • Provide education and support to clients on healthy lifestyle choices, disease prevention, and management of chronic conditions.
