Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Distribution Centre Operations Manager to lead our Townsville Distribution Centre, overseeing both on-site and off-site operations.


Main Responsibilities:
  • Ensure a strong safety culture across the site, including the yard and operations. Implement and maintain compliance with COR, load restraint standards, and MHE safety protocols.
  • Achieve cost efficiency, meet KPI targets, and deliver exceptional service levels. Identify opportunities for productivity improvements and cost reductions.
  • Lead a small team, focusing on coaching, development, and performance management. Foster a positive, learning-oriented work environment.
  • Maintain open communication with sales, customers, and internal stakeholders. Build strong relationships with 3PL transport providers.
  • Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, including onsite manufacturing and sales teams, to drive operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S, inventory accuracy, and warehouse efficiency programs.
  • Manage reporting, capital projects, and infrastructure upgrades, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

About You
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Supply Chain, Warehouse, and Distribution management, with leadership roles in distribution centre management.
  • Proven ability to manage inbound and outbound logistics, reporting, compliance, and project management of improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with WMS systems (SAP/ERP advantageous), inventory control, and load planning.
  • Familiarity with lean management principles, Chain of Responsibility regulations, and load restraint guidelines.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience in coaching and mentoring others to achieve high performance.
  • Highly effective planning and organisation skills, with excellent time management, coordination, and analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to make quick decisions and build stakeholder and customer relationships.
  • Able to work autonomously as part of a team, with a collaborative style, positive attitude, resilience, and innovation.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on safety and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Demonstrated possession of a driver's license and forklift license, essential requirements for this role.
