About the Department of Anaesthesia

The Department of Anaesthesia is a dynamic team located on Level 2 of the Austin Tower. Our department comprises 38 full-time Staff Anaesthetists, 75 Visiting Anaesthetists, 28 Anaesthesia Registrars/Fellows, 6 Critical Care HMOs, 3 Research Nurses, 8 Pain Nurses, 10 Anaesthesia Liaison Nurses, and 5 Administrative Staff.

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Visiting Anaesthetist to join our team. As a Visiting Anaesthetist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality anaesthesia services to patients undergoing surgical procedures. You will work closely with our team of anaesthetists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality anaesthesia services to patients undergoing surgical procedures
  • Work closely with our team of anaesthetists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of departmental policies and procedures
  • Contribute to the education and training of junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals
  • Participate in research and quality improvement activities

Requirements

  • Be a registered Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Current Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists or equivalent
  • Have appropriate training and experience applicable to the field of Anaesthesia, Sub-specialty interests strongly encouraged
  • Demonstrate a commitment to high-quality patient care
  • Demonstrate a commitment to working as a team member with peer medical, junior medical, nursing, and other clinical staff to provide efficient, safe, and quality care across the continuum
  • Demonstrate a commitment to research and/or clinical audit activities
  • Participate in teaching and training of medical, technical, and nursing staff, including at undergraduate and post-graduate level
  • Attend and actively participate in relevant departmental, organisational, and external meetings
  • Demonstrate engagement, teamwork, and collaboration
  • Have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Have demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to Clinical Governance
