Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled General Practitioner to join our team in a Drug and Alcohol Specialist role. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with drug and alcohol use disorders, as well as providing general practitioner-related care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and diagnose patients with drug and alcohol use disorders, providing evidence-based treatment and care
- Prescribe medications and provide ongoing evaluation of patients with substance use disorders
- Provide immediate assessment and treatment of patients in emergency situations
- Collaborate with nurses and allied health professionals to provide comprehensive care
- Refer patients to relevant services and liaise with healthcare teams to ensure seamless care
- Authorize prescriptions for patients on opioid treatment programs
Requirements
- Full unconditional AHPRA registration
- Primary care and mental health management experience at a general practitioner level
- Fellowship of the RACGP or recognition as a General Practitioner
- Experience with electronic medical records and medical practice systems is highly desirable
- Live in Australia or New Zealand and have work rights in Australia
- Evidence of training and accreditation in prescribing for the treatment of opioid dependence or willingness to obtain accreditation
- Clinical experience in D&A patient management is highly desirable
