Director of Academic Excellence

The English Department Head role is pivotal in driving academic excellence, staff development, and a culture of care, pride, and growth at the school. This position requires a passionate and knowledgeable educator who can lead a dynamic team of teachers in delivering high-quality, inclusive, and future-focused learning programs aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum and the school's strategic direction.
Main Responsibilities:- Foster a Positive Learning Culture
The ideal candidate will foster a strong, positive, and professional learning culture within the English department by leading by example, cultivating respectful relationships with staff and students, and promoting a shared commitment to high expectations and continual improvement.
Data-Driven Decision MakingThey will use student achievement data to drive decision-making, lead collection, analysis, and interpretation of data across the English learning area, inform planning, evaluate program effectiveness, and implement targeted interventions to support staff in developing data literacy.
Curriculum LeadershipThe successful candidate will provide curriculum leadership with deep content knowledge and familiarity with the Western Australian Curriculum and SCSA requirements to ensure programs are well-sequenced, compliant, inclusive, and responsive to student and community needs.
Departmental ManagementThey will oversee the effective functioning of the English department, including assessment and reporting processes, resource management, budgeting, and staff coordination, contribute to whole-school planning, policy implementation, and improvement initiatives.
School Leadership TeamThe English Department Head will be a visible and active member of the school's leadership team, modelling the school's values and leading meaningful change to positively impact the learning experience of all students in the English learning area.
