Education Leader - Library Services

Job Description:

The role of the Education Leader - Library Services is to provide strategic leadership and management for the school library, ensuring that it operates effectively as a learning hub, supporting student achievement and teaching excellence. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing effective library services and programs that meet the needs of students, teachers, and the wider school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing library policies, procedures, and strategies that align with the school's vision and goals;
  • Providing expert advice on curriculum design and delivery, particularly in areas related to literacy and information literacy;
  • Managing the school library collection, including acquisition, cataloguing, and maintenance of physical and digital resources;
  • Leading and managing a team of library staff, volunteers, and external providers to ensure the efficient operation of the library;
  • Collaborating with teachers to develop and implement effective instructional practices that integrate technology and library resources;
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of library services and making recommendations for improvement.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience:

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A Master's degree in Library and Information Management or a related field;
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior leadership role in a school library setting;
  • Proven expertise in curriculum design, instruction, and assessment, particularly in areas related to literacy and information literacy;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team, including coaching, mentoring, and professional development;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills;
  • Familiarity with ALICE/OLIVER library software and other relevant technologies.
