Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Morning Shift Manager to join our team at our Laverton North facility in Melbourne. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the site operates in a safe, compliant, profitable, and cost-efficient manner, while delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a high level of service to customers from the warehouse to delivery to store across a 24/7 retail logistics operation.
  • Ensure agreed customer service levels are met in consultation with the Customer Relationship Manager.
  • Ensure safety policies and procedures are followed.
  • Monitor and actively manage costs, driving efficiencies and reductions to maximize extraction of value against contract requirements.
  • Contribute to the senior leadership team by assisting with the development of strategies and ways of operating to support consistent performance.
  • Determine hourly, daily, and weekly labor and equipment requirements to meet workloads in line with legal and industrial relations frameworks.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in a similar role, preferably in the logistics or transport industry.
  • A background in a retail logistics environment within a distribution center or a fast-paced FMCG environment.
  • Experience and knowledge of a multi-temperature operation.
  • Qualifications in Logistics Management or a business discipline, and/or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Coaching and mentoring skills, managing a large-sized operational team.
  • Experience and knowledge with transport/route distribution is advantageous.
  • A good understanding of profit and loss and other KPIs that drive storage, handling, and distribution costs.
  • Knowledge of labor cost control and improvement, and the relationship between labor and handling revenue.
