Job Title:

Lead Design Engineer

Job Description:

This is a leadership role in the design of water and wastewater infrastructure. The successful candidate will oversee complex engineering projects, managing multi-disciplinary inputs and coordinating with clients and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design lead on Tier 1 projects, ensuring integration of civil, mechanical, and structural components
  • Coordinate consultants across all design stages to deliver best-for-project outcomes
  • Manage design scope, risks, and value engineering opportunities
  • Verify and sign off on engineering documents to utility standards
  • Engage directly with clients and Tier 1 builders on technical matters
  • Contribute to capability uplift and process standardisation
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience, including D&C delivery
  • Strong background in Tier 1 projects (e.g. Sydney Water, Fulton Hogan, Downer)
  • Deep technical knowledge in civil infrastructure, mechanical piping, or structural concrete within the water industry
  • Capable of verifying and signing off on engineering deliverables to major authority standards
  • Strong commercial and stakeholder management acumen
  • Ideally chartered (CPEng) or actively working toward it
