We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team at Lark Business Advisory in Melbourne. As a key member of our financial services team, you will be responsible for preparing financial statements, income tax returns, and BAS for various industries.

About the Opportunity

As a Senior Accountant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing financial statements, income tax returns, and BAS from start to finish;
  • Reviewing BAS, financial statements, and income returns prepared by offshore accountants and addressing any queries;
  • Communicating with clients regarding annual and ongoing work, resolving any issues that arise;
  • Managing a portfolio of clients, including invoicing and maintaining relationships;
  • Collaborating with the Taxation & SMSF Manager to ensure accuracy in your work and respond to review points;
  • Liaising with team members and offshore accountants daily to ensure seamless operations;
  • Handling matters with the ATO and other statutory authorities as needed;
  • Maintaining confidentiality and upholding the highest standards of client trust;
  • Document managing client files electronically into Suitefiles.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in public practice;
  • Proficiency in the preparation of financial statements and income tax returns for companies, unit trusts, family trusts, partnerships, and individuals;
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work autonomously;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • High levels of attention to detail;
  • Effective time management and the ability to prioritise tasks;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Xero, Suitefiles, Practice Ignition, and Karbon;
  • Strong judgement, decision-making capabilities, and initiative;
  • Calm and approachable demeanour, with reliability and honesty;
  • Active listening skills to effectively understand client needs;
  • A high standard of personal presentation;
  • Commitment to client and company confidentiality.
