Workshop Fitter Machinist Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Workshop Fitter Machinist to join our team in Mackay QLD. This role is ideal for a mechanically inclined individual with strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Fabrication and Reconditioning: Create driveshafts for various applications, including automotive, commercial, off-highway, and industrial sectors, by fabricating and reconditioning them to meet specific requirements.
  2. Machining Driveline Components: Utilize machinery to produce driveline components, ensuring precision and quality through strict adherence to technical specifications.
  3. Assembly, Welding, and Balancing: Combine and finish driveshafts through welding and balancing processes, guaranteeing optimal performance and safety standards.
  4. General Workshop Tasks: Perform routine tasks as required, contributing to the smooth operation of the workshop environment, including maintenance, organization, and inventory management.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Fitting and Machining Expertise: Possess advanced knowledge and hands-on experience in fitting and machining acquired in a workshop setting, with a focus on precision and accuracy.
  • Solid Mechanical Aptitude: Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of mechanical principles and concepts, enabling effective analysis and troubleshooting of complex issues.
  • Experience Operating Manual Lathes and Welding Equipment: Possess essential experience operating manual lathes and welding equipment, with a proven track record of safely and efficiently utilizing these tools.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Exhibit a high degree of flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing job tasks and priorities, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
