Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Midwifery Group Practice team at Kangaroo Island Health Service as a Midwifery Team Leader. In this role, you will provide support to the Midwife Unit Manager in leading the maternity team and promoting continuity and consistency of care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the implementation of practice changes and undertake service management responsibilities, including performance management processes, recruitment, staffing, leave management, rostering, work allocation, and attendance management.
  • Support and work collaboratively with less experienced members of the maternity team, utilizing your nursing/midwifery skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain a cohesive multidisciplinary team and resolve local or immediate maternity care problems using effective communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.

Requirements

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse/Midwife by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Prior experience in management and leadership roles, capable of giving supervision to student nurses, Enrolled Nurses, and less experienced Registered Nurses/Midwives.
