Senior Health Information Management Position

A dynamic opportunity to lead and innovate in our Coding Service exists.

  • Lead the Classification and Coding Service through an exciting transformation phase, driving innovation and exploring new technologies such as AI to support modern workflows.
  • Join an experienced, passionate team of professionals who are dedicated to delivering high-quality healthcare services.

This key leadership position is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the Classification and Coding Service.

Full-time opportunity with flexible working hours available. Some movement between inner-city sites may be required.

Responsibilities include:

Strategic focus:

  • Assess current team structure and devise a new structure that supports staff and business objectives.
  • Develop workforce plans to ensure continuity of service.
  • Coach, inspire and encourage Coding team members to excel in their roles.
  • Explore and implement AI and other technologies to enhance coding processes.
  • Facilitate digital transformation and leverage EMR systems to support coding.
  • Manage change within the service to minimize disruption to service delivery.

Expertise:

  • Provide expert advice on coding, classification and data analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain professional relationships to stay up-to-date on latest industry developments.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Health Information Management or equivalent.
  • Experience in coding, casemix data collection and analysis.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills and ability to adapt to new technologies.
  • Proven experience in managing change in complex environments.
  • Collaborative approach and ability to build positive team culture.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work closely with stakeholders.
