Job Title:

Scientific Researcher and Educator

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our Testing Laboratories team. As a key member of this group, you will be responsible for overseeing the scientific aspects of standard work processes and outputting results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Training and Assessment: Provide coaching and assessments to enhance capability by sharing knowledge and education with laboratory staff.
  • Education Promotion: Promote ongoing education in immunohaematology and/or virology to ensure staff have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with supervisors to schedule training sessions and optimize laboratory operations.
  • Investigation and Quality Assurance: Conduct investigations into process deviations, lead corrective and preventive actions, and participate in quality assurance project reviews to ensure high-quality results.
  • Instrument Maintenance and Result Release: Conduct start-of-day control checks for Alinity and NEO instruments, perform manual result releases for Alinity-I instruments, and investigate potential thrombocytopenia cases through microscopic examination.
  • Blood Grouping Discrepancy Management: Participate in the blood grouping discrepancy incident management team as an immunohaematology scientist and review outcomes of manual blood grouping and NEO panel interpretation.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Bachelor of Biomedical Science with > 2 years' experience preferred in diagnostic or blood screening laboratories OR a general science degree with > 5 years' experience preferred in blood screening laboratories.
  • Knowledge and Experience: Demonstrated knowledge and experience in immunohaematology or virology, along with experience in workplace training with a track record of building capability in others.
  • Communication and Adaptability: Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt training and coaching to diverse groups across the business.
  • Availability: Availability to work across a rotating roster Monday to Saturday (7:30 AM to 10:00 PM) and participate in an on-call roster – Monday to Sunday.
