Role Overview

McConnell Dowell invites applications for a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join their project team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the delivery of a significant project for a major client.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for managing on-site electrical engineering functions, including supervising subordinates and ensuring the quality and quantity of incoming equipment and materials. You will also coordinate the activities of an engineering team, program workloads, and provide technical guidance to ensure the project is completed on time and within budget.

This is a fly-in-fly-out opportunity with competitive rates and allowances. You will be based on Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage on-site electrical engineering functions through subordinates, including Project Engineers, Electrical Supervision, Sub-contractors, and/or Cost/Planning support.
  • Monitor quality and quantities of incoming equipment and material, check work drawings, construction, and specifications against site plans and conditions, and arrange corrections or modifications where necessary.
  • Coordinate the activities of an engineering team, program workloads, and provide technical and administrative guidance to ensure aims and objectives are effectively and economically achieved.
  • Ensure project engineering completion is on time and within budget, recording completed work, costs incurred, materials used, and retaining progress drawings.
  • Assign work and assist with reviews for accuracy and adherence to required standards of supplier/subcontractor quotations/purchase orders as well as subcontractor arrangements.

About You:
  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in a construction environment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, components, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in using electrical design software and tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
