About This Role

The Strata Underwriter plays a pivotal role in driving business growth, revenue, and profitability by implementing effective portfolio analysis strategies and collaborating with internal customers to achieve New Business, Rate And Retention Targets.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing profit and retention strategies
  • Maintaining a strong relationship with brokers and providing feedback on book management strategy
  • Monitoring and reporting on open claims and making recommendations
  • Preparing for account reviews and demonstrating knowledge of risk, industry, competitive environment, and company products and capabilities

Accountabilities

  • Compliance with underwriting, compliance, and file documentation standards and workflows
  • Evaluating and accepting or declining new lines, renewals, and endorsements
  • Providing input to Manager on profit analysis, premium planning, market, and environment analysis
  • Achieving individual producer targets as specified in goals/business plan
  • Developing and implementing an effective business development strategy

Requirements

  • Demonstrable ability to proactively identify and implement intelligent solutions to unique underwriting situations
  • Subject matter expertise in pricing techniques, alternative risk transfer, and reserve development
  • Working knowledge of key accounts within the organization
  • Judgement, experience, and confidence to make recommendations for tailoring coverage and manuscripting policies
