Apprentice Boilermaker Job Description

We are seeking a skilled professional to fill the role of an Apprentice Boilermaker. This individual will be responsible for using hand-welding equipment and/or semi-automated equipment to weld or join metal construction and fabrication components, safely, to quality and time specifications and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Competently operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal using gas shielded metal arc.
  • Set up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment, grinders and carbon rod gauging.
  • Label and sort manufactured plate material into product groups.
  • Mark-out, cut/drill/punch holes as required for plate material in accordance with fabrication drawings.
  • Layout, position, align and assemble components together in accordance with fabrication drawings and tolerances.
  • Mechanical cutting of steel and compiling of cutting lists from fabrication drawings.
  • Measure and cut raw materials with straightedges and high accuracy.

  • Genuine passion for the fabrication trade.
  • Aptitude for mechanical and fabrication concepts and tasks.
  • Motivated and willing to undertake any additional training.
  • Flexible approach and cooperative team attitude.
  • Willingness to assist in other areas.
