Embedded Systems Specialist

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of embedded Linux systems and be able to work with partners to deliver a seamless, optimized Ubuntu experience on their platforms.

This role requires a holistic approach to the Ubuntu experience on partner platforms, including inputs on technical plans, testing strategy, quality metrics, and participation as a technical lead on complex customer engagements involving complete system architectures from cloud to edge.

The successful candidate will also help customers integrate their apps, SDKs, build device OS images, optimize applications with Ubuntu Core, Desktop, and Server.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing the best Ubuntu integration for the latest IoT and server-class hardware platforms and software stacks.
  • Working with open source communities and licenses.
  • Collaborating with C, C++, and Docker/OCI containers/K8s.

Additional skills required include:

  • Experience with graphics stacks.
  • Good understanding of networking - TCP/IP, DHCP, HTTP/REST.
  • Basic understanding of security best practices in IoT or server environments.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or similar.
  • Experience with Linux packaging (Debian, RPM, Yocto).
  • Self-discipline and self-motivation to work in a globally distributed team.
