About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Director to lead our defense infrastructure projects in Melbourne. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering strategically important construction projects from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage project tasks autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Apply Currie & Brown's guidelines and project management toolkit to ensure compliance with contractual requirements
  • Plan and deliver construction projects across multiple sectors, including defense, local government, education, and commercial fit-out
  • Prepare site assessments, due diligence reports, cost reports, project control group reports, and other essential documents
  • Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders, consultants, and contractors
  • Oversee design development, coordination, reviews, and approvals during planning and construction phases
  • Execute procurement management, including trade tender packages review
  • Appoint and manage contractors while upholding probity requirements
  • Handle contract administration, including progress claims evaluation, variations, extensions of time, and documentation completion
  • Monitor completion activities, including commissioning, handover, takeover, and defects
  • Develop project programs and monitor projects against those programs developed by contractors and approved by clients
  • Track project costs in line with approved budgets
  • Report on actual performance compared to programmed results
  • Liaise with local authorities as required to ensure works authorization
  • Maintain occupational health and safety compliance and quality assurance systems
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in construction or engineering-related fields, such as construction management, M&E/civil engineering, architecture, or project management
  • A minimum of seven years' experience working on defense projects
  • Current security clearance
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools, including Word, Excel, and Project
  • Advisory services experience (risk management, workshop facilitation) is desirable
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills

Estimated Salary: AU$120,000 - AU$180,000 per annum, dependent on qualifications and experience.
