About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Biodiversity Planning professional to join our team at Hornsby Shire Council. As a key member of our Environmental Services team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing strategies to conserve and protect biodiversity within our local government area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide senior expertise in biodiversity conservation, planning, and environmental assessment
  • Lead strategic and operational initiatives focused on biodiversity conservation and influence planning processes to integrate biodiversity considerations effectively
  • Develop and monitor the effectiveness of environmental management strategies, plans, programs, and projects focused on conserving biodiversity within the Hornsby Shire
  • Work collaboratively with other teams and stakeholders to achieve environmental outcomes
Requirements
  • Relevant qualifications and/or significant experience in environmental assessment, legislation, and biodiversity planning
  • Proven ability to work independently and within a team environment, and to encourage and mentor other members of the biodiversity team
  • Good communication, organisational, and time-management skills
