Breaking the Drug Cycle

The Magistrate's Early Referral into Treatment (MERIT) Program aims to break the cycle of addiction; reducing crime associated with illicit drug and alcohol use. This role operates within a multidisciplinary team environment as part of a health service.

1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in health, science, social, education or behavioral sciences.
2. Demonstrated understanding of the broad health and social impact of substance misuse and dependence, and commitment to harm minimisation.
3. Demonstrated understanding of and skills in evidence-based interventions for substance misuse and dependence.
4. Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills, including effective communication with other health professionals.
5. Possess ability to communicate effectively with the justice system and provide confidential quality reports.
6. Demonstrated high level computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
7. Ability to work autonomously and follow direction.
8. Experience working with diverse communities with strong cultural awareness.
9. Understanding of and commitment to Equity, Diversity, Workplace Health and Safety and Quality Improvement.
10. Current driver's licence.
