Job Title: Community Development Specialist

OARS CT is a not-for-profit organisation driven by its Guiding Principles to enhance community wellbeing.

We provide professional services and support to individuals with offending histories and their families.

Our core purpose is to improve the lives of those impacted by crime, and we're seeking talented professionals to join our team as Community Development Specialists.

You'll be part of a purpose-driven organisation working towards enhancing community safety and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop tailored employment solutions for justice-involved clients, including skills matching, interview preparation, and motivational interviewing.
  • Establish partnerships with local businesses and organisations committed to inclusive employment for participants who have been involved with the justice system.
  • Advocate for opportunities for participants with offending histories and address concerns around justice involvement and inclusion.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A strong alignment to OARS CT's organisational values and culture.
  • In-depth understanding of the justice system, employment barriers for ex-offenders, and the ability to advocate for opportunities for participants with offending histories.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with diverse clients, employers, and staff.
  • Proven experience in developing employment solutions for justice-involved clients.
  • A National Police Clearance and a Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement).
