Job Overview

The SKA Observatory is a next-generation radio astronomy facility that will revolutionise our understanding of the Universe and the laws of fundamental physics.

The organisation is collaborating with a leading research institution to operate and support the construction of the low frequency telescope (SKA-Low) in remote Western Australia.

This role will work closely with the team to continuously refine their best-in-class safety culture.

The position will involve 50% time on site, with travel to and from site via 9-seater aircraft, flying from Geraldton to site.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement the HSE Management Plan as a foundation for building a strong, reliable safety culture.
  • Provide clear leadership to the HSE team, fostering a shared sense of purpose and encouraging professional development.
  • Support the broader team in understanding the rationale behind safety requirements and how they contribute to overall success.
  • Prepare reports that clearly communicate key metrics, risks, and outcomes to drive informed decision-making.
  • Lead incident investigations using structured methodologies to uncover root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
