Job Description

The Aboriginal Cultural Support Adviser Role involves providing advice and building awareness of Child Protection practitioners working with Aboriginal children. This critical role enables Aboriginal children to remain connected to community, build resilience, and support them remaining with family.

You will focus on improving outcomes through self-determination reforms for Aboriginal children, families, and communities by engaging with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and community services organisations.

This role requires professional leadership and guidance to Child Protection and stakeholders, including local Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and community service organisations.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Deliver strategic directions within increased autonomy and accountability.
  • Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including local Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and community service organisations.
  • Make decisions that establish precedents to support cultural planning, community connections, and self-determination.
Eligibility Criteria

This is a Designated role – Only Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply.

You must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or hold a valid work permit or visa.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have relevant qualifications and skills, including experience in working with Aboriginal communities.

You will also need excellent communication and leadership skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
