About the Role

This newly created Assistant Accountant position involves daily financial accounting activities, including preparing financial statements, accounts, budgets, and processing invoices in a timely manner. You will report directly to the General Manager, Finance – Corporate, and work collaboratively with the senior accountant and wider finance team.

To succeed in this role, you will need to be detail-oriented, well-organized, and able to take ownership of tasks to meet deadlines. You should have strong problem-solving and analytical skills, as well as the ability to interact with multiple stakeholders across all business units within the organization.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions
  • Processing and reconciling expense and credit card claims
  • Assist in month end close procedures, including journal posting, bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Fixed assets register maintenance
  • Assist in forecasting and variance analysis, effective cash flow management and external audits
  • Assist in preparing monthly finance reports, annual financial statements and budget
  • Input to the continuous system and process improvements

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will require:

  • At least 1-2 years' experience as an Assistant Accountant or Graduate Assistant Accountant
  • Bachelor/Master's Degree, with a major in Finance or Accounting
  • Intermediate/advanced skills in Excel
  • Currently (or intends to be) studying towards CPA/CA
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
