Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated teacher to join our team as a Support Class Teacher. The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching students with autism, coordinating enrolment and transition processes, and providing support to teachers in mainstream classes.

The ideal candidate will have qualifications in Special Education and experience teaching in a specialized setting. They will also possess excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to lead and mentor others, and strong skills in integrating technology into the learning process.

In this role, you will work collaboratively with support staff, teachers, parents, and external agencies to provide a positive and supportive learning environment for students with disabilities.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Essential Criteria:
  • Qualifications to teach Religious Education or willingness to undertake relevant study
  • Active and committed Catholic or willingness to support the ethos of the Catholic school
  • Special Education qualifications and/or experience teaching in a specialized setting
  • Ability to provide appropriate intervention to meet the learning needs of students on the autism spectrum
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, mentor, and work collaboratively with all support staff, teachers in regular classes, and from other schools, parents/carers, and external agencies and the wider community
  • Strong skills in the integration of Information and Communication Technologies for students with disability in the learning process
  • Understanding of positive behaviour approaches and ability to develop and maintain a positive, innovative approach to support students with challenging behaviours
  • Ability to design and implement quality individual education programs, including differentiating learning, to meet the needs of students with disabilities
  • Commitment to ongoing personal and professional learning, formation, and growth
