Heavy Diesel Fitter Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled trade qualified heavy diesel fitter to join our team in Papua New Guinea.

About the Role
  • This is a key position within our maintenance team responsible for providing expert technical advice and hands-on coaching of the national workforce in the maintenance and repair of all excavators and drills as part of the open pit fleet.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring health, safety environmental and community relations standards are set and maintained by both our operation and contracted employees.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Safety & Environmental Management: Identify and manage risks and hazards in your workplace to ensure no incidents and achieve 100% compliance of all Safety & Environmental requirements.
  2. Technical Support: Provide guidance direction and coaching to the maintenance personnel and provide opportunities for continuous improvement.
  3. Maintenance Planning: Work with Maintenance Team to ensure Safety KPI targets are achieved. Provide all necessary internal and external reports on safety and environmental compliance, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  4. Equipment Inspection: Carry daily inspection to a high standard to ensure defects are identified prior to failure.
  5. Resource Allocation: Provide the resources and estimates needed to plan and schedule the defects into Pronto and make sure they are executed prior to failure.
  6. Environmental Consideration: Ensure environmental controls are given consideration to perform tasks related to inspection, planned/unplanned maintenance events.
About You

To succeed, you will be a trade qualified heavy diesel fitter with 7+ years' experience on large scale open pit mine. Experience working in developing countries and experience working on Komatsu heavy mobile mining equipment will be highly regarded.

A strong focus on behavioural based safety is essential, as well as advanced planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Communication and cultural awareness is key, strong interpersonal and relationship building skills are a must as well as an appreciation for operating within a developing country.
