Underground Copper-Gold Mine Planning Specialist

The role of Underground Copper-Gold Mine Planning Specialist is a key position focused on the development and implementation of mine planning and design strategies for an underground copper-gold mine. This position plays a critical role in leading a team, mentoring engineers, and collaborating with the mining production team to ensure optimal mine performance.
Duties and Responsibilities- Develop short-term, medium-term, and long-term production plans that align with business objectives and meet or exceed performance targets.
- Ensure seamless integration of short-term production plans with medium- and long-term mine plans to maximize operational efficiency.
- Analyze data and conduct site visits to determine the most suitable mining method, considering factors such as deposit depth and characteristics.
- Create detailed plans for mine excavations, including declines, drives, and shafts, utilizing computer-aided design software packages.
- Collaborate with surveyors to verify designs and implement controls for all excavations and drill sites.
- Work closely with the Mine Superintendent and Technical Services personnel to implement plans and achieve targeted production levels.
- Monitor and maintain ventilation standards to ensure removal of dusts and gases, and update the Ventsim model after each quarterly survey.
- Mange resources effectively to optimize productivity and efficiency.
- Anticipate potential issues and develop contingency plans to mitigate risks.
- Cultivate strong relationships between Mine Operations and Mine Maintenance to ensure smooth communication and coordination.
- Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) degree or equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience in underground mining, particularly stope mining.
- Advanced computer skills, preferably with expertise in Deswik.
- Understanding of relevant legislative requirements and industry regulations.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
