Hardware Systems Designer

As a skilled hardware systems designer, you will contribute to the full lifecycle of deployed mission systems from design and testing to compliance and release. Your work will involve collaborating with stakeholders to deliver robust, secure capabilities across hardware, software, and cyber domains.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply agile methodologies to develop a defensive cyber operations suite.
  • Manage the product lifecycle for deployed mission systems, ensuring seamless transitions between phases.
  • Build, configure, and test complex IT systems for release, guaranteeing optimal performance and security.
  • Design schematics, layouts, and specifications for hardware components, considering factors like safety, reliability, and scalability.
  • Ensure hardware performance meets or exceeds standards, maintaining high levels of quality and consistency.
  • Produce and review technical documentation, including SOPs, HLDs, DLDs, SADs, and SODs, to facilitate knowledge sharing and adherence to best practices.
  • Collaborate across teams to resolve issues and manage risks, fostering a culture of open communication and problem-solving.
  • Maintain accurate reports and records aligned with project milestones, providing actionable insights for informed decision-making.
  • Operate within ICT and cybersecurity governance frameworks, adhering to established policies and procedures.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Linux OS automation and administration expertise.
  • Proficiency in hardware testing, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with communications systems, sensors, and telecom networks.
  • Knowledge of cyber operations and toolsets, including ISM compliance for hardware configuration.
  • Understanding of WHS compliance and safety practices.
  • IT and/or cyber security domain expertise.
  • Experience with Windows OS automation using PowerShell.
  • Background working in air-gapped environments.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, including routing, switching, and firewalls.
  • Medium to large-scale IT project experience.
  • Prior experience working with Australian Government agencies.
  • Current NV2 clearance, with the ability to obtain a Positive Vetting (PV) clearance desirable.
