Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Technology Project Manager to lead and manage strategic technology initiatives at Spokane Public Schools. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with executive leadership to drive large-scale projects and programs that align with the organization's strategic plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and monitor complex, large-scale technology projects, in alignment with organizational values, the District's strategic roadmap, and initiatives following an agile methodology.
  • Collaborate with district leaders to develop the vision and strategy for large-scale initiatives; develops options and recommendations based on feedback from a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Track program milestones and provide ongoing updates to the project team; gather quantitative and qualitative data to evaluate program effectiveness throughout the lifecycle of the project to inform course corrections; proactively identifies and mitigates risks.
  • Hold regular technical team meetings to determine progress and address any questions or challenges regarding projects and timelines.
  • Identify and mitigate project challenges to avoid delays.
  • Establish and cultivate relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to inform program deliverables.
  • Partner with other departments to develop comprehensive communications strategies to ensure broad awareness and buy-in.
  • Lead change management efforts to facilitate project implementation.
  • Develop timelines that capture milestones for all projects and track planned effort against actual effort.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on assigned projects.
  • Participate in recruiting and training exceptional employees to fulfill positions within the technical department.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or related field required, Master's degree preferred.
  • PMP or CAPM training/certification required.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years managing and/or supporting complex projects, including planning, estimating/budgeting, resource planning, risk assessment, expectation management, scope, and issue management with complex business and IT projects.
  • Experience with DevOps principles and methodologies, including infrastructure automation, configuration management, CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proven experience in system administration, including server management, network configuration, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with cloud platforms a plus.
  • K-12 education project management experience preferred.
  • Ability to assess appropriate priorities and organize workload on multiple assignments.
  • Extensive experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office including MS365 products.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Communicate diplomatically, persuasively, effective oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a credible and confident manner at all levels in the organization, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals, establish priorities, and organize resources.
  • Ability to provide creative, solution-oriented support to complex situations.
  • Ability to perform Quality Assurance testing on all projects including reviewing, supporting troubleshooting, and training of developer code. Must be proficient in: MSSQL, TSQL, C#, JavaScript; Typescript; HTML, CSS, SASS, NHibernate; ASP.NET (Webforms, MVC, Razor), jQuery.
  • Technical proficiency with industry software and project management software administration.
  • Experience managing large-scale projects required.
  • Experience leading large-scale product implementations preferred.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $134,644 - $157,399 per year, reflecting the job's requirements, responsibilities, and expected outcomes.
