Supporting Young Aboriginal People After Floods

This program provides culturally sensitive youth mental health support and case management services to children and young people impacted by flood events.

  • Culturally sensitive clinical intervention with a flexible approach
  • Primarily face-to-face or assertive/community outreach services

The role involves significant travel, working with children and young people to provide mental health support through a cultural lens. You will manage a clinical caseload of mainly young Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander female clients, providing consultation and linkage to other services, and engaging with local communities.

This is an opportunity for you to make a positive impact on the lives of young people in need. To perform this role, it is essential that you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person, as per section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991.

  • Caseload management and recovery-orientated clinical care
  • Experience working with young female clients (ages 8-18)
  • Delivery of evidence-based interventions in youth mental health
  • Understanding of prevalent issues for young Aboriginal women in today's society
  • Great driving skills and comfort with daily travel
  • Local knowledge of the Northern Rivers Region

You will need a relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing, or Counselling, along with a current Australian Drivers Licence and eligibility for a WWCC (NSW).
