Mechanical Specialist for Electrical Rotating Machinery

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Specialist to join our team at Sulzer's Cardiff Service Centre in NSW, Australia. This role offers the opportunity to work on industry-leading projects and utilize your expertise in electrical rotating machinery.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing hands-on tasks, including repair and maintenance of LV, MV, and HV electrical rotating machinery, replacing or repairing mechanical assemblies, dynamic balancing of mechanical assemblies, and conducting precision repairs.

This is a full-time position that requires a Trade Certificate III in Fitting & Turning or similar, with proven experience in mechanical fitting of large equipment, specifically electric motors and other electrical rotating machinery. A forklift license is also desirable but not essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Repair and maintenance of LV, MV, and HV electrical rotating machinery (motors, generators, etc.)
  • Replacing or repairing mechanical assemblies like shafts, gears, seals, impellers, fans, and bearing fits
  • Dynamic balancing of mechanical assemblies
  • Conducting precision repairs on shafts, journals, and housings
  • Using requisitioning systems for parts and materials
  • Cleaning electromechanical assemblies with specialized tools and techniques
Requirements
  • Trade Certificate III in Fitting & Turning or similar
  • Proven experience with mechanical fitting of large equipment, specifically electric motors and other electrical rotating machinery
  • Forklift license (desirable but not essential)
  • A customer-focused approach and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong time-management skills and attention to detail
