We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join our team at the Australian Department of Infrastructure. Key Responsibilities- Transaction Processing: Accurately process a wide range of salary, leave, and entitlement-related transactions, in accordance with relevant legislation, delegations, policies, and procedures.
- Client Support: Provide internal clients and managers with general advice and guidance in relation to the submission of leave, completion of employee timesheets, and other employee-related documentation.
- Correspondence: Prepare and send payroll-related correspondence, including emails, to ensure that employees receive accurate and timely advice regarding their entitlements and associated conditions of employment.
- Record Keeping: Maintain the personnel and leave records of employees, in an accurate and timely manner.
- Customer Service: Provide internal and external clients with a high level of customer service and support.
- Experience: Experience working in a team performing payroll-related tasks is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Experience in, or the ability to quickly learn SAP (SAP ECC6).
- Analytical Skills: Strong numerical and analytical skills, including an attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and time management skills, with an ability to meet deadlines.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to manage competing priorities.
- Correspondence Skills: Experience in preparing correspondence and reports (including emails and letters) on routine matters.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team.
- Networking Opportunities: Opportunities to network across the department and wider APS.
- Capability Development: Capability development opportunities focused on your individual career goals.
- Flexible Working Arrangements: Flexible working arrangements where appropriate, including part-time hours and home-based work.
- Citizenship: To be eligible for employment with the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, and Communications, applicants must be an Australian citizen at the time of submitting their application.
- Health Assessment: The preferred applicant may be required to undergo a medical examination conducted by the department's preferred medical provider.
- Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to obtain and/or maintain a security clearance at Baseline Clearance Level.
