About the NO MORE Initiative:
We are a Northern Territory wide Aboriginal initiative that works with local communities to develop responsive strategies for reducing domestic and family violence (DFV).
Our aim is to create supportive environments in sporting organisations, workplaces, and communities by raising awareness, educating, and mobilising individuals and groups.
We build community capacity, establish men's groups, provide DFV awareness education, and refer individuals who use violence in their relationships to support services including behaviour change programs and counselling.
The Role:
A Community Engagement Worker plays a vital role in engaging local communities to develop prevention strategies for domestic and family violence.
This role focuses on building relationships, fostering cultural change, and supporting communities in developing Domestic Violence Action Plans (D-VAPs).
Workers deliver education and awareness sessions, connect organisations with support services, and empower community leaders to take action against violence.
They work closely with local stakeholders, ensuring that prevention strategies are culturally appropriate, trauma-informed, and community-driven.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strong community engagement skills: Ability to build trust and establish relationships with diverse community groups.
- Passion for preventing domestic and family violence: Commitment to promoting respectful relationships and non-violent attitudes through education and advocacy.
- Initiative and teamwork: Self-motivated and capable of working independently while collaborating effectively with partner organisations.
