About the Role

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is seeking a talented and passionate Indigenous journalist to join our team as a Cadet Journalist. This is an exciting opportunity for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander individual to develop their skills and knowledge in journalism, while contributing to the ABC's commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the production of news and current affairs programs for the ABC
  • Develop and produce content for various platforms, including television, radio, and online
  • Work closely with experienced journalists and producers to learn the skills and techniques of journalism
  • Contribute to the development of the ABC's Indigenous content and initiatives
Requirements
  • Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person
  • Understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work well in a team and take directions
