About the Position

The Trainee Water and Wastewater Operator will assist in the operation and maintenance of Council's wastewater system treatment facilities and pumping stations under direction from the supervisor and in accordance with their licence conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the maintenance, construction, and repair of water and sewer infrastructure and/or assets.
  • Contribute to the operation and maintenance of Council's wastewater system treatment facilities and pumping stations.
  • Develop skills and knowledge in water operations and maintenance.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Higher School Certificate or Equivalent;
  • Current NSW Drivers License;
  • A requirement of this role is to complete a Certificate III in Water Operations;
  • Fundamental communication, literacy, numeracy, and computer skills;
  • Demonstrated Interest in gaining a career in Local Government;
  • Demonstrated experience and/or capability to deliver the Job Specific Key Accountabilities (outlined in the Position Description); and
  • Demonstrated Fundamental key capabilities as defined in the Key Capabilities Table (outlined in the Position Description).

We Offer

Trainee Water and Wastewater Operator Traineeship opportunities are available to be completed on a full-time basis, as a 2-year term contract, at 38 hours per week. The opportunity to complete a Certificate III in Water Operations (a requirement of this role). Salary is dependent on qualifications, skills, and experience. Plus 11.5% superannuation. 40% discount on yearly Aquatic and Fitness Centre membership for staff and families at local facility (conditions apply). Access to EAP program for employees and their immediate family.
