About the Role

We are seeking a casual Catering Assistant to join our team at our Caloundra Rise Retirement Village based in Little Mountain, on the beautiful Sunshine Coast.

As a Catering Assistant, you will be working in a fully functional commercial kitchen and open dining room, supporting a head chef in production, serving customers, delivering meals, and clearing tables for our village residents in accordance with the requirements of the Food Safety Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performing basic food preparation tasks, including washing, peeling, and cutting fruit and vegetables, seasoning and slicing meats, and preparing sauces and salads.
  • Plating of meals during service and functions as directed by Chef.
  • Setting up dining and buffet areas as per the catering chef's instructions.
  • Ensuring all tableware are properly cleaned and sanitized before each meal service.
  • Appropriately storing clean dishes, tableware, platters, and equipment after each catering event.
  • Record Keeping in line with Food Safety.
  • Assisting in all duties related to customer billing.

Southern Cross Care Queensland (SCCQ) is a Catholic not-for-profit organisation established by the Knights of the Southern Cross, more than 40 years ago. We saw a need to provide compassionate care and inclusive service to some of the most vulnerable, the ageing population, in the community.

Since then, SCCQ has grown to employ over 1200 staff caring for and supporting more than 2000 people across 13 residential aged care homes, 5 retirement villages, 28 social houses, the National Disability and Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and home care services in metropolitan and rural Queensland.
