About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geosciences team in Brisbane or Mackay. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and managing geotechnical engineering projects, providing expert advice and guidance to clients, and contributing to the growth and development of our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage multiple concurrent site investigations to deliver geotechnical investigative reports, including interpreting geotechnical data, performing analysis, and making recommendations.
  • Undertake geotechnical analysis in areas such as slope stability, pavement designs, foundations, and retaining walls.
  • Lead and manage the delivery of projects, ensuring work outputs are of a high technical standard.
  • Undertake interpretation and analysis of data to develop and implement practical and commercial solutions.
  • Manage key projects from start to finish in line with project specifications.
  • Promote a culture of high performance, delivery, and continuous improvement and mentor and coach more junior team members.
  • Support the Team Leader and others across the company on opportunities and pursuits.
  • Provide input to strategic planning and implementation of initiatives within the business unit.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering with completion of geotechnical electives and/or major as part of your university studies.
  • 10 years' practical experience, preferably with a geotechnical engineering consultancy.
  • Chartered Engineering credentials (RPEQ / CPEng / NER).
  • Expertise in field geotechnical investigations including logging and supervision of geotechnical drilling activities as well as laboratory testing knowledge.
  • Experience with engineering software packages such as gINT, GEOSTUDIO, PLAXIS, ROCSCIENCE, AutoCAD would be of assistance.
  • A demonstrated passion for working in the geotechnical engineering discipline.
