Job Title: Core Technician – Drill Core Processing Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and skilled individual to join our team as a Casual Core Technician, working in a fast-paced environment with drill core from various drilling programs. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and possess strong communication skills.

The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing core for logging, cutting and sampling core, managing sample delivery and requirements to onsite laboratory, loading and unloading core manually and with a forklift, assisting in the management, storage and disposal of core in the core shed and core yard, and data entry and record keeping.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of core for logging: ensuring that core is properly stored, labeled, and prepared for analysis.
  • Cutting core: using specialized equipment to cut core into samples for further analysis.
  • Sampling core: selecting representative samples of core for analysis.
  • Loading and unloading core: moving core between different locations within the mine site.
  • Assisting in the management, storage and disposal of core: ensuring that core is properly stored, managed, and disposed of in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Data entry and record keeping: accurately recording and documenting core processing activities.

Requirements:

  • Year 10 secondary education or above.
  • C class drivers' license.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Forklift experience and license desirable.
  • Previous working experience in an operational mine, especially in a core shed, highly desirable.
