Job Summary:

The Tree Management Specialist will be responsible for administering the council's tree preservation order, undertaking administrative tasks, and preparing quotation documents. They will also select contractors and project manage various arboriculture works on public land.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Administering the council's tree preservation order
  • Undertaking administration tasks including data entry, report generation, and correspondence
  • Preparing quotation documents and selecting suitable contractors
  • Project managing arboriculture works on public land, ensuring they are completed safely and to a high standard
  • Providing advice to the public on correct arboriculture practice and tree management
  • Liaising with independent arborists and consultants as required
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and legislation
  • Assisting with tree management issues and street tree maintenance
  • Representing the council at external committees as needed

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Certificate III in Horticulture (Arboriculture)
  • Expert knowledge of arboriculture practices, including inspection and reporting
  • Knowledge of Australian Standards relating to arboriculture (AS4373)
  • Experience issuing infringement notices under local government acts
  • Ability to work independently, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively
  • Excellent customer service skills, providing clear information and guidance to the public
  • Proficient in MS Office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
